Writing in Forbes, leadership guru Jeff Boss says that management hierarchies are a thing of the past, or they should be. What’s needed instead are adaptable organizations that structure for purpose. “When you structure for purpose, you immediately remove the “me” mindset that pervades many cultures and instead create a shared mentality of “we” throughout,” he writes. Boss served for 13 years as a Navy Seal and saw first hand that rank and hierarchy meant little in operations. What really counted was the team’s ability to learn and adapt to unexpected situations. “Having the right information is not enough. It’s what you do with that information that determines victory or defeat,” notes Boss. You can read more on organizational adaptability at Forbes.
