Frequently Asked Questions
A: No; however, if there are multiple name matches, the only way to identify the name we’re searching for is by d.o.b. Since social security numbers do not appear on most public terminals, the d.o.b. is the best identifier. Q: Why can’t I get record information right from the computer? A: In Philadelphia in particular, information obtained from the public terminals does not always show charge grading (felony, misdemeanor, etc…) and does not list any parole or probation violations. The only way to find this information is often from the physical docket file. Q: Are you able to provide copies of the physical file? A: Yes, We can always request physical files and we can always provide copies of the physical file when available. Court fees and copy costs will apply, and it can also take several days or weeks for the files to be pulled, depending on which county the request is from. Q: Can Social Security numbers be used in identifying a request? A: Yes, when a social security number is provided and is available. Q: What are common reasons for a delayed result? A: Generally most delays are experienced while waiting for clerks to pull files. If a client has not received a result and has not been informed of a delay in our daily status report they should feel free to call and ask for status. Q: Are you able to search Municipal and District Courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey? A: No. We are only able to report case information from a county level. Q: What are your coverage areas? A: For a full list of coverage areas contact Sharon Lipsitt, Marketing Director (slipsitt@countyhouseresearch.com) to have a current price list with coverage areas and turn around times sent to you. You may also visit our website (www.countyhouseresearch.com) and click on coverage areas. Q: Can I choose the way results are returned to me? A: We have the ability to either fax or email up to two accounts, and we can also update clear results with your online system. Q: Why do records have longer turn around than clears? A: In most counties we have to wait for the clerks to pull the files so that we can abstract the records. This generally takes 24 - 48 hour. If it takes longer the client will be notified of the delay on their daily status report.
