County House Research Inc.Celebrating 10 years of Innovation!

County House Research invests heavily in technology to build the infrastructure for our great service and support, but it is CHR's people who really make this company great. That is why we invest in our people too, creating learning opportunities for team members like last month's CHR team retreat. Over two days we explored new approaches to our work as individuals and as a team.

Over the next few months, I will have the pleasure of introducing you to the exceptional people of CHR. I hope you'll keep reading.

For more information on the CHR, please email me directly.

Best regards,

Tech Tip
Lossless Data Compression-"Lossless data compression" allows users to reconstruct complete original data from a compressed state. By contrast, "lossy data compression" allows only an approximation of the original data. ZIP, GIF, and PNG are common lossless file formats.

New Jersey classifies crimes differently from other states. Instead of felony, misdemeanor, or summary, New Jersey reports crimes as Indictable, Non-Indictable or Disorderly Persons. A person charged with an Indictable offense goes before a Grand Jury; the Grand Jury decides if the case merits further action, sending the case to trial. If the Grand Jury decides that there is insufficient cause to go to trial, then the case is remanded to municipal court. Disorderly persons offenses are heard in municipal courts, they carry less restrictive punishments upon conviction and are often dismissed. For convenience we report New Jersey criminal offenses with both standard and New Jersey classifications.

Robin Watkins is General Manager of County House Research.

Audience
Jay Eidelman

In real estate, it's location; in communications it's audience, audience, audience. The word comes from Latin for "to hear," but knowing what an audience wants to hear is easier said than done. Billions are spent by industry each year to determine what their audience (buyers) want to hear and then billions more are spent to determine whether the audience is really listening. While no advice can replace the valuable insight that research and experience offers, these 4 tips will help you communicate with greater impact:

  1. Set the tone and focus with the title and lead sentence.
  2. Provide context; tell people why they should care.
  3. Focus on one thing at a time to avoid confusing readers.
  4. Proofread and edit to make sure that there are no typos or grammatical errors. Reading your piece out loud and having others review your work are great ways to catch mistakes and awkward constructions.
